Drawings and Oil Sketches
Drawing is, in my opinion, the most important part of painting. Not just is it vital in understanding the lines and basic shapes that make up any natural object, but it is of course also one's map. It is the foundations and scaffolding one must erect in order to build the structure of the piece in paint. It allows the artist to get from beginning to end of his painting...but sometimes I enjoy keeping the drawing as it is, whether in pen and ink, or oils.
