Rings of Bright Water

Oil on Board

14" x 7"

The otter is a shy, reclusive animal. Pushed to the brink of extinction in England and Wales a century ago, hunted for sport and its pelt and falling victim to water pollution, it has made a stunning comeback and now inhabits all the counties of the UK.

A creature I always thought of as a riverine species, one of my best otter sightings was on my local stillwater mere, in the early monring.
